Messier 55 (M55) - The Specter Cluster This is a globular cluster located in the southern part of the constellation Sagittarius. It sits about 17,600 light-years away from us and contains around 269,000 solar masses. Its estimated age is around 12.3 billion years which makes is very old. As with most older clusters it is low on metal content (low metallicity) Omega Centauri - NGC 5139 In 1677 Edmond Halley first found the first object that was identified as a non-stellar object. This globular cluster is located 17,090 light-years away from us and resides in the constellation Centaurus, the Centaur. It is around 150 light-years in diameter and contains approximately 10 millions stars packed tightly together. It is also believed to be the stripped core of a captured dwarf galaxy
